Wondering how to get more streams? Here are 5 easy ways

August 11, 2022
Alex Rosenberg

Are you hoping to improve your music’s digital reach? Although streams don’t represent a huge part of your income, they are key to growing your platform, finding new fans, and hitting new heights as an artist. Whether you’re just starting out or already selling our venues, we can help you reach your next 100, 1,000, or 100,000 streams.

5 ways to get more streams:

Streams are crucial for musicians trying to make it big online and book gigs IRL. We’ve put together a list of tips to help you get moving toward your next goal, whatever it may be!

1. Link all of your streaming sites on one page

From Youtube and Soundcloud to Spotify and Apple Music, your music needs to be everywhere and easily discoverable by everyone. Many artists are centralizing all of their streaming links onto one easy webpage. Have you considered using a Flowpage? Flowpages are our mobile landing page where creators can upload all of their live links for their fans, including new song releases, tour dates, concert tickets, merch, and more! By giving them as many ways to hear you as possible, you reach as many fans as you can!

2. Promote in-person whenever and wherever you play!

Connecting your in-person crowd to your digital presence is crucial. Whether you’re playing a gig at a local venue or a popular park, always give people a way to connect with you. QR codes that send people to your digital footprint can ensure fans get to hear your music, see future tour dates, and engage with your social media content.

3. Promote off traditional streaming platforms

The regular streaming platforms (Spotify, Soundcloud, Apple Music, etc.) are saturated with millions of artists, and it can be difficult to get air time in a sea of creators.

Consequently, many musicians are turning to social media platforms to promote their work. By tapping into channels outside of the traditional streaming world, you can access new audiences and discovery channels. For example, you never know when a track might make it big on TikTok. By using your songs as the background audio for TikToks, you give your music the chance at virality. All you have to do is film your video, select your own tune as the sound, and let the algorithm do its thing! You never know what will happen…

4. Submit to independent playlists

Whether it’s Apple Music or Spotify, some independent curators have playlists with thousands of followers. These playlists become the soundtrack to people’s drives to work, house parties, and more. They’ve become an excellent way to reach new audiences and enter micro-genres like Spotify’s “Soak Up the Sun” or “Country Coffeehouse. ” Explore options like submitHub or Musosoup, or pitch to music influencers or blogs.

5. Create your own playlist

Let your fans hear what you like to bump on the way to work, at the gym, or with friends! Make playlists that feature some of your music and some complimentary artists to curate whatever musical vibe you’re going for, and watch while your fans engage! This provides a way for them to get to know who you are outside of the album without invading your privacy or taking up much of your personal time.
