Why Your Gym or Fitness Studio Should Use QR Codes

Attracting new people to your gym or fitness studio is one thing — getting them to become loyal members is another! If you’re looking for ways to boost engagement, you need to use Flowcode’s dynamic and customizable QR codes. It’s the ideal way to create an enriching environment with seamless connections.

Connect Workout Demos with QR Codes

Misuse of cardio machines or weights can lead to injury of your gymgoers and damage to your equipment. Unfortunately, the illustrations printed on the sides of the machines aren’t always helpful. While there’s no substitute for personal trainers working the gym floor, you can help your members by creating video demos of proper training technique. Follow these steps:

  1. Create a short video of one of your trainers using the machine or lifting the weights with correct technique.
  2. Post the video to YouTube or Vimeo as “unlisted.”
  3. Generate a Flowcode QR code scanning to the video link.
  4. Print it out and post it on or near the equipment.

You can also shoot videos of your trainers doing specific exercises, e.g. kettlebell swings, barbell squats, and bicep curls. Then, create a Flowcode linking to these videos and post them in your free weights area. Gymgoers who are at a loss for what to do will appreciate some ideas!

Contactless Check-ins with QR Codes

Make it easier for fitness class students to mark their attendance with Flowcode QR codes for contactless check-in. This saves your front-desk staff and instructors the trouble of checking people in. Plus, you can reduce the use of shared surfaces that contribute to disease transmission.

Simply set up your check-in page through your class management app, then generate a Flowcode for the link. Post it prominently in your studio’s entrance area. While your instructors will still need to verify attendance (e.g. if someone forgets to check-in), using a Flowcode can streamline the process and reduce direct contact.

Social Shares and Selfie Spots

People want to share their fitness journey, so they’re already taking selfies. Make it easier for them to tag or check-in to your business online with Flowcode. Post a Flowcode QR code linking directly to your Instagram or Facebook  page and encourage your members to scan it. You could even offer an incentive for tagging your business, such as a small discount at the snack bar or off their next class.

You can even designate “selfie spots” to create a studio check-in spot. (Tip: Choose an area out of the way of foot traffic and include an attractive background.) Post your social media Flowcode in this area to encourage people to visit and tag your business.

App Downloads with QR Codes

Do you have a custom app? Encourage your gym members to download the app with a Flowcode. We recommend creating a short landing page with button links to both the App Store and Google Play Store. This is simple to do with Flowpage. Then, generate a corresponding Flowcode and post it around your studio.

QR Codes to Connect Wi-Fi

If you offer free Wi-Fi to your gym members, generate a Flowcode for your network so they can instantly connect. Anyone who loves streaming music as they work out will appreciate that!

Best Practices for QR Codes

Flowcode marketing and engagement is inexpensive and powerful. However, it can be difficult to manage if you’re not careful. Follow these best practices for optimal results:

Label each code.Having multiple Flowcodes around your studio can be confusing. You don’t want gymgoers to be uncertain about which code does what. Always print the Flowcode on a poster or sticker with a clear call-to-action, e.g. “Scan for machine tutorial” or “Download our app.”

Print the code  at an appropriate size. Make it easy for gym members to scan the code. If they are close to the code (e.g. if it’s on a machine), it can be smaller. Codes that need to be scanned from a distance, such as check-in codes, should be larger. Get our printing guidelines for posters  and stickers.

Flowcode is the perfect way to keep your gym or fitness studio’s members engaged and informed. Plus, they make your staff’s lives easier. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your codes! You can keep them all organized in your Flowcode dashboard  and update their destinations at any time.
