10 Soap Packaging Ideas

10 Soap Packaging Ideas

If you’re trying to promote your sustainable soap brand, why stop at the product itself? There are so many eco-friendly ways to package bars of soap without the use of plastic!

Why you should choose eco-friendly soap packaging

Bars of soap have a much smaller environmental impact than liquid soap. If you’re producing an environmentally friendly package, shouldn’t you have eco packaging to go with it?

When producing your bars, consider eco-friendly packaging ideas like kraft paper, pastry boxes, cheese cloths, and the other options we have listed below!

1. Leftover wrapping paper

Wait, don’t throw away that gift wrapping! Gift wrapping paper makes great decorative soap packaging. Just wrap your soap with the leftover pieces. Take it a step further by wrapping it with other recycled materials or a QR code sticker!

QR codes can send people to your brand’s website in a flash. Secure the wrapping paper with your unique QR code. This easy hack helps your carbon footprint and promotes your brand’s webpages.

2. Kraft paper

Sure, you may pack lunches in kraft paper, but it can be used for SO many different types of packages — like soap!

This warm, vintage-looking paper allows you so much creativity. You can decorate the blank paper using custom business stamps, stickers, or other business information. The paper can be crisply wrapped or balled up first to give it an appealing textured appearance. Finish it with a ribbon for an added “wow” factor.

Wrap a ribbon around it with a QR code sticker that takes your customer to your business' social media pages, FAQs, ingredients lists, and more.

3. Cheese cloth

Cheese cloth is another good choice when packaging your soaps. The material is lightweight, rustic, and perfect to be reused. You can also dye its fibers to suit your brand’s personal style.

4. Cloth bags

Whether they are cotton, silk, velvet, or burlap, cloth bags are a classically simple option for packaging soap bars. Like a lot of other packaging options, bags come in so many shapes, sizes, patterns and colors. You’ll be guaranteed to compliment your brand’s feel and set yourself apart from the competition.

5. Drawstring jewelry pouches

These customizable pouches are perfect for plastic-free packaging, while keeping the product secure and dry inside. With your brand’s logo and personalized QR Code printed on the front, customers can easily engage with your business without unnecessary paper products.

Take it a step further by tucking in dried flower petals or lavender leaves to compliment the scent of your soap.

6. Burlap

Similar to cheesecloth, burlap allows you to dress up your soap while allowing customers to still smell and see what they’re buying. Also, like other packaging options, you can tie a colorful bow or ribbon to complete the look.

7. Recycled boxes

While standard corrugated boxes aren’t the most unique, there are plenty of options that are recyclable and even compostable! If you’re ordering them at scale, easily print your brand’s logo on it and other images like QR codes!

QR codes can drive customers to your site to re-order, leave reviews, social accounts, and so much more! The best part? Once you have a code on your box you can update the destinations whenever you want — you’ll never have to replace the code.

8. Recycled holiday cards

Maybe this one is not the obvious choice, but it’s an interesting option around the holidays. You just need to cut up and fold holiday cards into little decorative boxes. This makes for truly unique packaging…especially if you’re out of boxes!

9. Cupcake wrappers

If you don't have anything else to use and need a quick soap package idea, check your kitchen for cupcake cups. Place your soap into the cup and tie a piece of string or twine into a bow. It provides a comforting, home-cooked aesthetic for your small business.

10. Green wrap

This die-cut honeycomb paper ships flat and is built like moldable cushioning. It’s a great recyclable option and can be customized further with other attachments like bows, rope, or hemp.

Your product is undoubtedly the main event, but why not perfect the little details, too? It can make or break a customer's day when they receive a thoughtfully assembled package, especially when they splurged on an eco-friendly choice. Make sure you do right by your customers and try these creative ideas!
